Who this covers

This policy explains what happens to personal data when you visit wattsbuilds.dev. The site is run by an individual based in the UK, and is the data controller for anything described here.

If you want a copy of your data, want it deleted, or just want to ask what is held, use the contact form.

What is collected

Two things, and nothing else.

The contact form

Your name, email address and message. These are submitted to Formspree, which forwards them by email.

Why: so a reply can be sent. That is the only use. The legal basis is legitimate interest — you asked for a reply.

How long: messages are kept while a conversation is useful and deleted when it is not. Ask and it goes sooner.

Analytics

Google Analytics records which pages are visited, roughly where in the world from, and which browser. It only runs if you accept analytics cookies — decline and it is not loaded at all.

Why: to see which writing is read. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from the cookie policy.

There is no newsletter, no advertising network, no profiling, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone beyond the two processors named above.

Who else is involved

The site depends on a few third parties. Each has its own privacy notice.

  • Netlify — hosting. Server logs including IP addresses, kept briefly for security and diagnostics.
  • Formspree — processes contact form submissions.
  • Google Analytics — usage statistics, only with consent.
  • Google Fonts — serves the typefaces; your browser requests them directly.
  • Contentful — stores the journal and snippet content. Holds no visitor data.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, or withdraw consent you previously gave. None of this costs anything and there is no need to explain why.

Requests are answered within one month. If the response is unsatisfactory you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no version history — the page above is always the current position.
